Palestinian Human Rights and the Struggle for Racial Justice in the Medical School

The report below was originally issued on January 31, 2025. The version below has been amended to include a correction. In our original report, we mistakenly attributed the initial targeting in 2022 of the Black faculty member to the Jewish faculty resilience group rather than to the specific faculty and student involved.  Jfrg was not officially formed until two years later in 2024. However, students and faculty involved in the 2022 events, in which faculty of the SRHE course were accused of being antisemitic, went on to form Jfrg. Furthermore, the targeting of Black faculty as antisemitic continued in 2024 when a member of Jfrg broadcast on Israeli media a narrative about rising antisemitism at UCLA as illustrated in an illegal video clip of the 2022 lecture on race and racism. The broadcast led to further online harassment of the Black faculty member, a harassment strategy the Task Force discusses at length in our third report.
